pakistan vs england 2012 update 3rd test Match
England were 104 for 6 in the first innings against Pakistan at stumps on the first day of the third cricket test at Dubai.
Earlier, Pakistan were bowled out for just 99 runs in the first innings. With the wind blowing and the pitch having some early moisture, England’s pace pair of broad and Anderson bowled well to Pakistan’s batting in which Asad Shafiq top-scored with 45. Anderson struck as early as in the first over, trapping opener Taufiq Umar for a duck. Broad then clicked into gear, snaring Azhar Ali in his third over and Younis in his next. It got worse for Pakistan, tumbling to 21 for 5 when Anderson trapped Misbah-ul Haq for one. Asad Shafiq and Adnan Akmal added 18 for the sixth wicket before broad changed ends to dismiss the wicket-keeper. Asad Shafiq hit 45 runs with the help of three boundaries. Broad grabbed four while Anderson took three wickets for England. England also had a shaky start after losing two early wickets for seven runs. England lost opener Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott in Paceman Umar Gul’s incisive opening spell. England were 64 for 2 but then Pakistani spinners came back and took three wickets in quick succession to leave them 88 for 5. Pietersen made 32, Ian Bell scored 5 , Eoin Morgan hit 10 and Mathew Prior made 6 runs. Andrew Strauss on 41 and James Anderson on 3 runs were at the crease when stumps were drawn.
